May this will help folks in the future. Yesterday while bush hogging or in my world cutting grass all of a sudden the tractor just died. I first thought I bumped the key and turn it off but that wasn't it so checked everything in the cab but all was good. Tried to restart and it turned over but no start. So I thought it acted like a fuel problem so check it there was fuel leaking but all was dry so no lines cut or pulled apart so looked at the fuel filter to see if there was fuel in the filter and I could smell something that smelled like an electrical burn. Look at at the fuel pump and there was a hole in the plastic on the piece that covers some electrical part on the side of the pump. So Friday afternoon it's hot, sitting almost on the property line. I thought for a minute and knew the VE style injection pump would pull the fuel from the tank and run so I could get it the two hundred yards to the shop. Replaced the fuel pump with a piece of 3/8 copper tubing and started it up and drove it to the shop. Knew I couldn't get a pump so I thought after looking at the pump I bet a kubota BX pump would work and bolt right up no mods to it at all. So I have a BX not being used so jerked the pump off it and slammed it on. Bolted right up. No mods to nothing. Finished the hogging and now waiting for a new pump for the BX I ordered on line. I may post pictures if some one is interested but this may help someone if they run into the same problem. May say it also blew the fuse I just pulled the 10 amp one from the pto and used it to get the tractor to the shop so I didn't have to sit in tall grass and hot sun to fix it.

Good thing you're a competent person... that always helps.

Thanks for posting this experience.

That’s some quick thinking and well beyond my thought process. I appreciate any photos you would be willing to post.

I would appreciate some pictures too. I agree, I am not sure I would have been smart enough to get it back to the shop. I assume we are talking about the primary lift pump that takes the fuel from the tank to the injector pump?

It’s definitely been awhile since I’ve been on this forum. You’re correct it’s the lift pump. I had to replace that used lift pump I robbed off the Kubota it finally quit after about 500 or better hours but also had over 900 hours on the Kubota. I replaced it with the same kind which you can buy off eBay really cheap. Lots cheaper than an oem from Branson or now known as TYM.

Life sure has gotten in the way and it’s been awhile but I’ll try and post a couple in the next day or so.
