OK, a mystery wrapped in a puzzle inside an enigma as they say: Bought a Branson 3120 new in 2011. (Been a very good tractor for my needs, btw.) Always thought I had the A1700N2 engine and the '20/25 Series Tractor Service Manual' put out by Branson Tractors (Pg 1-26, 7.2 MAJOR SPECS) that I bought on-line recently seems to confirm this is the only choice for my tractor. When buying parts (mostly consumables or parts specific to the tractor and not the engine [e.g. tie rods]) I'd get them from the dealer I bought the tractor from so they'd just look up the necessary info on my tractor and give me the part so no reason a conflict would have appeared) BUT today I happened to see a bar code label on the left side of the engine partly hidden by the exhaust manifold that has 'A1500N2' along with another line of letter/numbers. I read something recently (I think it was a Kukje related site) that stated the A1500 engine didn't even appear until 2018 so does anyone know the real deal? Thanks in advance.

I could be wrong but I don't think the A1500 made it that far. I believe around 2015 is when they stopped using that engine, about the same time they discontinued the 3120, accordingly to TractorData.

I imagine they realized that 30HP might be a bit on the low side on a tractor that big and that heavy.

During 2015, they released the 15 series with the A1700 engine, initially offered in 35, 40 and 45HP. The two later ones had turbo. I don't know if the A1700 was available and used before this new series or not though.

ptsg: Asteral was good enough to dig into some resources he has and told me the A1500 was actually used from 2010 to 2012 on the 3120R's. Haven't been able to find anything myself on-line other than the engine was resurrected in 2018 and that the engine (at least the 2010-2012 vintage was actually 1.6 L. (Why things have to be so confusing I guess is something in the Korean/English translation.) Now all I have to do is find something that actually gives the Specs on the old A1500 and hope it's merely a difference in tuning or a slight difference in cylinder size in case I ever have to get a head gasket! Thanks, my friend.
