Brave Log Splitter

I have a Brave TM93 (I think) 3 point hitch splitter that uses the tractor hyds. The control valve is an Energy Products with 1612C stamped into one end of it. It is leaking fluid and I want to rebuild it. Anybody know where I can get parts for it. The Energy website shows products but no information on repairing.

Most cheaper spool valves are not re-buildable. The spool is just machined to a clearance fit into the bore of the valve. There are usually no O-rings or seals.

For the price of a new valve, it may just be easier/cheaper to replace it. Look at the SurplusCenter.

I would take it apart and see what you can do but its probably not rebuildable or cost effective to do so. I just built a splitter and bought a new valve for $60 at Rural King.

I was thinking on making a log splitter and using the valve on one of my stabilizer arms as the valve for operating the splitter .

I will just place the splitter by the tractor and disconnect the lines of the stabilizer hydraulics using quick couplets and then connect the lines from the splitter to these lines enabling me to use the valve for that stabilizer to control the splitter.

Any thoughts.

Fiddler- Don't know how big your tractor is but my JD4300 has a lot smaller stabilizer cylinder than my log splitter. It would take forever to run the splitter ram out thru my stab circuit. Seems to take long enough using the power beyond piping....

Any thoughts.

1. The stabilizer valve does not have a auto-return feature or detent for the return stroke like a good lodsplitter valve would.
2. The lines feeding the stabilizer cylinders are small, so your splitter would be REAL slow like Pat mentioned.
3. You probably would not be able to reach the valve and hold the log on the splitter at the same time.
4. Sometimes the stabilizer circuits even have restrictors in them so they move slow.


Splitter valve can be bought for $70 or so, I just don't think you would be saving much...
