Folks,
Can you tell me what is allowable during the break in period of a DK45? I don't understand what they mean by "make sure and run the tractor at the proper work load speed for the initial operation of 10 to 20 hours".

It goes on to say that driving a new tractor at high speed or load can damage its overall durability.

"Never apply excessive load during work".

So what exactly qualifies as high or excessive load? I get the high speed piece. Is running my new 6 foot PTO driven tiller on new ground considered "high load"?

Thanks for the help.

I don't think so. Just run at rated PTO speed and you should be fine.

I think they are just trying to say use it normally for the first 20 hours, don't max it out until you get some time on it.

Using the tiller won't come close to maxing out your tractor.

do NOT lug the engine... Lugging a diesel engine casues overheating of some components, poor lubrication of others....
