Will a Kubota B2410 hydrostat, pull a one bottom breaking plow to turn over a garden? Thanks

Breaking plow? Is that similar to a chisel plow or subsoiler?

I'm no plowing expert but I'll offer a thought or two since you haven't had any responses yet. The softer your soil and the fewer rocks you have the easier your plowing will be.

I'm not familiar with your model, but I'm guessing you have 24 horsepower. If you also have 4 wheel drive, I'd say you have more than enough to pull a single bottom moldboard plow. You might be able to pull a two bottom. I have seen 25 or 30 horse 2 wheel drive gasoline tractors pull a two bottom plow at a plowing match. I can pull a box blade with 4 scarifiers down with 23 horsepower diesel in clay soil, but they are not nearly as deep as a plow would be.

If you are not set on fully turning the soil over you might want to check out the post from a few weeks ago about getting a middlebuster/subsoiler to break ground for your garden. TSC sells one for $150.

Best of luck with your garden :)

Single bottom conventional plows are certainly within the capability of your tractor, especially if you limit the size to 14" or so. No problems for that machine whatsoever. But they are very pricey for something you use once a year.

As the previous poster said, check out the threads on the middle buster. There have been a couple good threads in the last month. Use the search feature above. These can be had for as little as $140. Very very useful for not very much money. Like you, I thought I had to have a mold board plow, but after research, went with the middle buster. I have never looked back. Best Wishes

Your B2410 should not have any problem pulling a 1 bottom moldboard plow. A moldboard plow will turn under the debris left on the surface. That puts it down in the root zone where it will decompose and become food for new plants. Look around and you can find a used 1 bottom plow for about $200 +or- $25 or $50. Or make your own like Milkman did. You will not be sorry. Even if you only use it once or twice a year you will smile each time you do. You already have a nice tractor. Capitalize on your investment and get the right tool for the job. You won't be sorry. Good luck.

I'm going to give mine a workout tomorrow with my bx23. I have a single bottom moldboard plow that came with my used 16hp gas/hydro garden tractor. I had lots of weight on the rears and chains and even it pulled the plow in damp (not wet,not dry) clay, no rocks. Last weekend I adapted the sleeve hitch to fit the bx tph and did the same for the single disk. I tested the plow and it worked great but it was after dark when I finished the disk conversion. I'll get a better idea tomorrow when plowing the whole plot and let you know how it does. I'll try to get some b-4/after pics.
