I live in middle TN with plenty of blue limestone. I have a small area of rock that I would like to bust in order to make a new entrance for trailers. Also I知 hitting solid rock in my post holes.
I know I could rent an air compressor and drill/pavement buster but I知 doing my fencing a little at a time.
How do the electric pavement breakers do? Especially this one at HF: 15 Amp 7 Lb. Pro Breaker Hammer

Not worth it. Ive had much better luck with a roto hammer and Dexpan or Ecobust.

Renting an air compressor and breaker or air drill is another option. Or they will rent a hammer on a skid steer.

I'm not a fan of Harbor Freight tools. They seem to work fine for everyone else, but fail rather quickly for me. Since you have multiple uses for it, I would suggest looking into a SDS Max rotary hammer. It's a type of drill designed for concrete that works really good, but it also switches over to a jack hammer that is very useful on smaller jobs. I use mine all the time for relocating drain lines in houses. Mine is a Makita, and it's been flawless. You can get a variety of different bits for it to do things like remove tile, drive in ground rods, or dig in super hard and compacted clay soil. Before buying mine, I rented one and was so impressed that I just had to have one of my own. It's one of those tools that once you have it, you wonder how you survived without it.

I知 trying to find something I don稚 have to rent every time because I知 doing a little at a time.

I was looking at a SDS Max and was told it would not do what I wanted to do. I guess I could rent one and find out before I bought.

If its big enough drill the rock and attach an anchor to it. Its alreaty been there for a million years.

maybe just drill a hole and insert a stick or 2 of dynamite.. that would be the quickest way..

I had a fence run that required 20 holes, 18 of them I hit table rock limestone 6- 12 inches down. I used a Makita 27lb demolition hammer with both a point bit and chisel bit. Worked great. It was still some work, but I got it done. Used my engine driven welder to power it.

What kind of fence posts? This might be an option

I have a mile and a half of four strand barbed wire fence around my 80 acres. About a quarter of that distance - 2000 feet - 140 T-133 fence post, is the hardest basaltic lava bedrock ever known to man. With my neighbors help and his big 'ol air driven jack hammer we have, over several years, replaced all my wooden "L-posts" with T-133 steel posts.

Drill an 18" deep by 2" diameter hole into the lava - knock the fluke off the T-133 - into the hole with the post - fill the hole with a dry mix of sand and dry cement. The next rain - the T-post is set forever.

I had an earlier version of this breaker for maybe 15-20 years. During which with the help of some 3 foot long points, I set a good many posts in ground where they would not pound in. Okay, it will not break through solid rock but then I have worked on jobsites where we had to bring in a rotary rig when an air hammer would not do it.

With a 3 foot point, this tool is a heavy beast which is why I sold it at the flea market this year. My repaired shoulder just is not up to the task anymore. With the HF discount, you can save on the purchase of a high end hammer or rental fees and have a tool when you need it on hand.

Hydraulic Hammers work well on tractors to break concrete or rocks.
