Briggs & Stratton - smoking-

I have been told that smoking kills ??? persons every year. I bet several more dies trying to start one of those "#､%&/!!! B&S engines.
I have a small generator with a 5 hp B&S engine. No spark. where do I start?

First check the plug. They do die. Does it have a kill switch? How do you normally stop it? Check this good for a grounded connection. This will stop the fire.

My experience with the generators and lack of spark has been a result of the kill switch not working right or the low oil shutdown system not functioning properly. The low oil shutdown feature actually shuts off the spark.

Good advice. I have had trouble with the oil alerts too. In one case, I could get a spark, but only intermittently, every 2nd or 3rd pull and it would spark, then back to no spark. Drove me up the wall.

I disabled the alert, and I keep an eye on the oil level manually now
