Briggs won't start, I won't give up

I have never seen a brigs carb where the flat / needle didn't stick after setting.

btdt.. hate small gas powered engines for anything unless i can't get away without it.

check the float needle.. many times they stick in the seat.

if it runs on start fluid you know it's a fuel delivery problem..

had a craftsman mower with a 3yr warranty.. I got a new carb 3 ys in a row for that very reason.. sold mower after that.. got tired of changing over the carb... gave the new owner a BOX of 3 rebuilt spare carbs so he could change them out and mow when needed and rebuild the stuck ones in his spare time.

That's why I try to always run a Briggs, Tecumseh, or outboard until it is dry, out of fuel, at the end of the season. This avoids all kind of problems.

Coleman (gas) lanterns too.

Is this a metal carb or a plastic one? I found with the plastic one when run dry, it will not start. There is a gasket in it like the ones on a chain saw, sort of pliable vinyl, I don't know if it sticks to the plastic or what, but the one I have has to be torn apart if I run it dry. It will not start for nothing until I tear it down. This is why It was given to me!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck

I run stabil in mine.. and about the only way I've found for them to NOT stick.. is just to use them often.. when the brigs carbs set.. they stick..

The carb cleaner in the gallon can with the wire basket is way better than the spray can cleaner. Allso you may experience problems even after you clean it because of the gunk in the tank gumming up the carb again. I had to pull the carb of off mine 4 times due to this problem. I would put it back together and set the jets by the book and it would run like a champ for about 11/2 hours then go right back to running ruff again. Thankfully its running right now, that thing was about to drive me crazy.

Be sure and blow the carb hour as soon as you pull ir out of the immersion tank. There may be some fines in the carb that are moving around and replug the jet after some use.
