For those who are curious, the corn yield estimates I have been getting for Western Ky (from Louisville west to Sassafras Ridge) using the formula, # of kernels per ear length(don't use the very end of each end) X rows of kernels in circumference of ear X # of ears per 17.5ft of row X .01116 = yield in bushel per acre. Yield estimates ranging 204-262 bushel per acre. But it's a long way from being in the bin. Most full season beans are showing 40-50 pods.

I sincerely hope that the weather conditions enable you to get your crop safely in the Bins. Best wishes.

I hope everyone has a good crop but 260 in western Kentucky seams high.

Bigtiller; I think 260 is "do-able" but very high. Lots of good bottom ground over there. Almost all of Ky is far above average.

Sure it's do-able but is it even close to a historical average from any year in the past 20 or so? I,m just saying without a drastic increase of fertilizer it won't happen. And the monitary gain of doing that is minimal so about the only thing gained is recognition of growing 260 b corn. But there are a few guys that try for that honor among farmers every year.
