Hi All:
Having had a look at specific threads over the last year or two I decided it was time to ask some specific questions on a fix that has had me stumped for the last year. Kind of 'inherited' a 65 tractor with 100 front end loader from my father in law, who over the last 10 years used it sporadically himself and lent it out ocasionally to friends. In either case, seemed like regular maintenance was never done and what was ever repaired was jury rigged with whatever happend to be in the shed along with a tube of gasket cement. I had very little experience with tractors and only get to work on it sporadically, but a bit of time spent working on cars in the 70s and 80s seems to help.
It was running, but leaking all over the place. Fuel filters (primary and secondary) had a half inch of black sludge in the bottom. So for starters, replaced all fuel filters, crankcase oil and filter. Replaced the lift pump and air bled the system. Got the power steering balanced with adjustments to the steering cylinder, rebuilt the power steering pump to eliminate leakage. Redid the main hydraulic lines off the front mounted pump to eliminate leaks, replaced all gauges, (none working before). And generally just wiped off a lot of dirt and grease. One of these days I will treat myself to a new seat.
What has me stumped now is getting the tractor meter cable hooked back in to the block. See my first post under Massey Ferguson general topics, I think it is.
Thanks for advice in the past and hoping someone can give me some hints. Conrad
