Hi guys,
Does anyone use a garden tractor to pull a small moldboard plow like the 10inch Brinley? I have been thinking of trying this for a long time but haven't been able to convince myself that my GT235 Deere is heavy enough to do it at least at any reasonable depth. Any experience out there? Oh, and I have hard clay soil too. Thanks for any stories.

I have a Craftsman 25 hp garden tractor and their equivelent plow. The tractor does a pretty good job but needs chains and wheel weights and if the ground is really hard, needs multiple passes.

I made a box receiver hitch for my 3pt on my JD 790 and an adapter for the plow. The John Deere does even better.

I have been thinking about that too, but for what you invest in a hitch, plow and harrow, you could get a decent rototiller...

Added a few pics of an 8 inch I pull to a depth of 6 inches in clay (orange stuff). Pulls good, 12HP 300kg Wheelhorse. Made all the linkages myself.
Pics show.
Hope this helps, you should be fine pulling it is you have ag tyres and wheel weights.
