I just got my Bro-Tek ripper with the additional trencher attachment which will fit my BH77. I gotta say, maybe I was expecting too much but I'm not really that impressed. It's made from lighter weight material than I would have used if I had fabbed it myself (then again, I'm known for over building things). I suppose it will do what it is designed to do though. I have a question for someone that has one, how deep of a trench are you able to dig with yours? Also, do you get lots of dirt falling back into the trench behind the trencher?

The more I think about it, I'm sure the Bro-Tek is built strong enough for anything the BH77 can throw at it. Sorry for coming off so negative. Like I said, I do tend to fabricate things MUCH stouter than necessary (then again, I've never had anything that I made fail on me either).
However; back to my questions, no one can give me input about using the trencher?

I am interested in hearing about people's experiences as well. I bought one, but I have not had a chance to use it yet.
Well check, I guess you and I are the only two that are going to trench with one of these... LOL. Good luck with yours. I plan to fab up a deflector at the top of mine that will push the dirt away from the trench. Today, I'm going over to some estate property to take out some small trees, gonna put the ripper to the test.

Yes I have the trencher attachment. I'm just thinking the dirt isn't going to be pushed far enough away from the trench and some of it will fall back into the open trench. If I make the additional deflector to push the dirt farther away I'll post the build and results.
I did use the ripper today to help take down several trees. Being able to break the roots makes pushing over the trees MUCH easier. I'm happy with the ripper now that I've used it.

I've got the ripper but not the trencher. I love the ripper tooth. I'll be interested to hear how the trencher ultimately works out for you. I'd love to see some action pics too.

I've got both the ripper and trencher plate, though haven't used the plate yet.
The ripper works great, a significant improvement over the 10" bucket for tearing out stump roots with the BH77. I'm happy with it.
I do have a suggestion though, when using the ripper with the Kubota thumb (mechanical, though mine's been converted to hydraulic), the ripper doesn't work so well with the thumb to grab smaller 2 to 4 inch saplings - they tend to slide out the "half moon" shaped opening between the thumb and ripper blade.
The fix for this, would be to fabricate an "anvil" to bolt onto the thumb to fill this void. It could be designed to almost touch the ripper blade when fully closed since both ripper and thumb pivot on the same pin, their alignment is always maintained so no chance of one hitting the other. Besides grabbing and pulling, such and anvil would also allow the ripper blade to cut through a root or sapling in place if that's desired. Sort of a mondo pruner!
