Got the welding shop to repair because it's too thick for my welder. Had pulled in about 1k ft of 2" conduit when this happened.

Did you hook a root or a rock? Nice that you a have a weld shop to fix stuff.

It was this crazy rootball that looked More like a stump that roots, was growing more vertical than horizontal. Usually the blade will cut through almost any roots but it got stuck in this clump and wouldn't lift out or back up. It was my fault it broke at one point I had the 11k machine doing a wheelie while trying to get the blade out.

If this happens again I'll go get the excavator and dig out behind it so it can back up to get out of the situation.

Is the part that broke mild or hardened steel?

Supposed to be AR or Hardox steel not sure which, something like that that is wear resistant.

It looks like it has a vertical weld or two up the shank. I'm no exert but wonder if the heat from those welds made the shank brittle when it cooled.

The front edge wears out then gets replaced. It has 6 holes for depth adjustment and broke were the lowest bolt hole is. I never used that setting so that section was cut out and replaced with solid. I do need two set of bolt holes though for double pipe sections where I have to plow a pipe over a pipe.
