I was giving my Cub a good cleaning today. I removed the mower drive belt so I could wash the tractor. I Noticedthe belt was a little frayed and had a few cracks in it bit no big deal it does have 100 plus hours on it . I gave the belt a little tug on the area that was cracked and it just snapped. It sounded just like twig.
I wonder if all that heat dries the belt to a point where it becomes brittle.
What do you all think?

Yes, heat will "kill" a belt. They become hard and brittle.

My wallet is $35.06 lighter for a new belt!
