Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Broken Gear Box on an Agro Trend Blower

Well I put the heat to the fan with a torch and still no movement of the fan. I'm stumped. I'm loading the blower and taking it to the dealer. I'm disappointed that I couldn't get it to release. Oh well. The blower has to be fixed so that's just the way it is. I figure I've reached the limit of my capabilities so better to let the mechanics figure it out. The only thing I'm wondering is if the key way is buttered. I guess we will see.

Well the dealer finished the gearbox replacement and the blower works great. Unfortunately it cost me $450 for the labour. I told them it might be just as easy to use the cutting torch and cut the shaft off and press out the remaining piece of shaft but it would seem they didn't do that until several hours of fooling with it. I guess I'm just happy to get it working again.

Despite having the proper Sheer pins in the blower and the PTO shaft I managed to break the gearbox and broke the shaft in the gear box of the blower. A have all the bolts and reel drive shaft loose and ready to come apart but the fan will not release from it's drive shaft to allow me to remove the gearbox. I tried heat form a propane torch and some fluid film to work it's way into the join as well as I good pry bar but no luck. Any suggestions an to how to get the fan off of the shaft? The blower is about 7 years old I think. I'm so mad the sheer pins didn't do their job.

Take it to a welder, I have realized long ago that the best tool to get augers and impellers off and back on is an ace torch handled by a pro. My welder charges $50 an hour which is a lot less than the amount of damage I would cause trying to get the dang thing off myself.
