Well I have had my 4010 for about 2 weeks and I have busted one of the hoses. The dealer came and picked it up yesterday and said I should have it by the time I get home from work today. I think the points that have been made on this forum about service are important. A broken hose can happen on blue, orange, green or whatever. The bottom line is what is going to happen when something does break and thus far I have been satisfied. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Any idea how it broke, or why it broke?

I had a hydro hose fitting on my FEL split/crack within 50 hours of usage.

Just uscrewed it and took it to a local truck shop and they created a whole new one for about $15.

Just telling you this so that you know you don't have to get the dealer involved if he's far away or can't get to it for awhile.

I've got about 200 hours on it now and haven't had any more hose problems. I am wondering how long they last though, especially when I'm working in 90 degree heat for long hours, as I assume it will take it's toll on the hoses eventually. Sure don't want to have a bunch of hoses go at once.

Does anyone out there replace hoses on some type of maintenance schedule or is that unnecessary; just wait until they go, if at all?

snowman,
High pressure hydraulic hoses are steel braided.
As long as the are not pinched,or rubbing they should last quite a long time..

You say the fitting split/cracked, which would indicate to me that it was either a manufacturing defect or was overtightened (more likely the latter). And barring that, the hoses should last a long time, as Vince said. There may be some who do, but I don't know of anyone who replaces them on any maintenance schedule; just replace them on an "as needed" basis.

I cannot agree more that service is worth a lot when buying a tractor. My dealer picked up my 4300 for some warrantee work at nine AM and returned it at two PM the same day. I had rinsed some of the dirt off it before they picked it up but it came back sparkling clean. There will always be problems and a good dealer has the solutions.

Guess who will sell me my next unit.

Received my tractor this evening as promised. Dealer told me they thought the hose was overtightened at the factory. I guess everyone needs to pay attention to torque specs.
