I think I know the answer to this but I've never actually ran into this before.
I have an IH b275 diesel that was froze up from sitting.
I was going to rebuild it. I got the pistons out and flipped it over to pull the crank and liners but when I pulled the main caps one was actually broken in half.
Has anyone ever replaced a main cap?
Is it even possible to replace it or is this a parts machine?
Personally, I've never heard of replacing one and being an older tractor I would have to find a used one. I'm concerned that it may not line up perfectly enough.
If anyone here has any experiance with replacing a main cap please let me know if it's do-able or if I should just part this out. I was hoping to save it but I'm really leaning towards parting it out now.
Thanks
John
