Massey Ferguson 1230 4x4 Hydro
Hello everyone,

This weekend I was moving some dirt around and broke something on my tractor. I've got a 4x4 MF 1230 with a Westendorf TA111 loader. Basically, I was trying to dig out a creek that had a lot of sediment and overloaded the system. Nothing is leaking and the PTO still works. However, when I lift the bucket off the ground, there is about a 3/4 inch gap between the hood and the center console. Then when I put the bucket back on the ground the gap closes. Then, yesterday I tried to lift my 3 point implement and got nothing. So I know something is messed up, but nothing visually looks broken. Any thoughts?:(

Thanks for any input.

Sorry, no pictures yet. My neighbor and I figured out that by removing the loader we stopped the circulation of the hydraulic oil. That's why the 3 point stopped working. So we connected the two cables and that part is taken care of.

As for the gap between the hood and console, the only thing we could come up with are the motor mounts flexing under the weight of the loader. We kind of simulated the problem by wedging a piece of steel between the mounts and prying it a little. When we did this, the gap I'm talking about opened a bit.

Has anybody else experienced this? Thanks for helping out.

i had a 1250that did the same thing...took a while to find out what it was ,,well it sorta told me ..mine was a broken frame that runs from the front to about the middle of the tractor..if i remember right... my loader is what caused the trouble.... was a front mount where most of the weight went on the front axle when using the loader...now my 1540 has a midmount loader , where the mount is in the middle and goes to the back axle..no trouble at all..my dealer only puts mid mounts on compacts now..look close at the frame you my find what i did,,,i hope this helps and good luck bruce

I've checked the whole underside of the tractor and all the connections between the engine and trans and have found nothing of the sort. Not sure if there is something I can't see unless I remove a part, but everything looks good.

Hi Bruce,

I have an MF1250 with an MF1246 loader. What loader did you have? Is there a solution or is it repair by replacement?

Hi Bruce,

Thanks, I have an MF1246 loader on my MF1250 tractor. Hope mine won't break. :-(

Do you still have any of your 1250 manuals?

I saw a post of yours from a few years ago about manuals, when I got my tractor and read almost every post that had MF1250 in it, to learn about my new used tractor. :)

Bruce,

Thanks for the reply. I'd like to get the service manuals for my 1250 tractor and the 1246 loader. I'll keep looking.

I think my loader is center loaded so hopefully It won't break the tractor.
