Broken seat suspension spring

I was tedding hay last week and one of the springs on my seat suspension broke. I looked amd this is not a part I can buy from NH or Messicks. You have to buy the entire $800 seat!

Has anyone replaced one of these springs? I have it out of the seat and am trying to find a suitable replacement.

It is: length: 9-5/8", spring diam = 1.365", spring wire diameter = .265"

I looked at McMaster-Carr and they don't have one.

Any suggestions?

I'd just upgrade to the air suspension seat. My JD has a spring ride and it's not heavy duty enough for my lead butt. Soon as it goes I'm going for air.

I called Newcomb. He said it will be about $400 for the first one, and about $5 each there after.

The spring that broke was one of the extension springs. I couldn't find a replacement so I called Long Lane and they had a used suspension seat for sale. Bought it, hooked it up and it works great.

I now have a suspension seat minus one extension spring if anyone needs parts.

Seat springs and seats just don't last long enough. The scissor type seat suspensions have far too much tension on them compared to the old JD design with the springs supporting your weight nearly vertically. They don't break. The scissor suspensions are force multipliers.

I have broken two seats. One on the JX95 and the other on the JX80 now just today. I replaced the seat on the 95 with an air ride and now the compressor on it is dead. Just south of $500 for that one. Now I'm looking for a spring. Messick's wants $60 per each for one of four needed. I can buy the whole dang suspension for $260!

These seats are Grammer or Grammer knockoffs and they are lousy.
