Hello all.

I have an issue with a broken tension pin on a DK50HSE.

Where the range gear shift lever connects to the transmission there is a tension spring that goes through the lever and through the spud that comes out of the transmission.

The tension spring sheared on my tractor and I replaced it. It has sheared again.

The transmission is in low and I can't drive the new tension pin into the hole through the gear shift lever and spud coming out of the transmission. There is not enough room to swing a hammer or wrench to drive the new pin in and the old broken pin out.

The first time it happened the transmission was in mid range and I was able to drive the new pin in with a 3' steel rod from the back.

This time it is aligned in such a way that it is not possible.

Anybody have any ideas before I pull the cab?

Is there room to use a "pusher"?. Like a gun sight pusher. Think of a small C clamp using the pressure of a screw to push out the pin. Just musing here, I have no experience with doing this.

Take the linkage rod off the bell crank/lever, then pull the lever off. Push the broken pin out if still in hole in rod. Put a long pin in and that combined with vise grip or similar to shift it back to easier position to drive new pin through. May have jack up rear wheels to get any pressure load off the gears.
Address reason for repeated breaking. Are you trying to force shift with tractor moving or pressure on the gears? Another remote possibilty is slide fork hanging up in gear box. I have heard of some guys driving another smaller pin through inside on the normal pin to get more shear strength, another is to drill the holes slighlty larger and intall a small diameter bolt.

Any way to hook to the spud to shift it to med range? Or remove the rear tire- not a one man job, ESPECIALLY if they're loaded, and drill an inspection/repair hole in the backside of the fender to allow you to effect the repair? You could rivet a plastic patch over the hole to seal the fender until next time...Cab removal seems overkill to solve this issue. Would also like to know why it happened again..... Any thoughts on that?
