I have eliminated my 3rd pile of brush with my IM502 chopper last weekend. I paid about $850 for this attachment, it would have cost much more for a 3 pt chipper. I have an area in the woods where we pile and chop the brush so I don't mind an occasional stick or two that doesn't turn to mulch.

I am very happy with this solution for eliminating my perpetual brush pile build-up. I actually just hook the chopper up and let my wife do the chopping. She loves driving the 4310 and watching the pile turn to mulch. Is there anyone else who uses a brush chopper in place of a chipper for eliminating brush piles?

Welcome to the forum.

I've no idea what you are calling a 'brush chopper'. For a second, I thought you were referring to your wife. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Care to enlighten me, and maybe others, as to what the 'machine' is you refer to?
Thanks in advance.

A quick Yahoo search pulled up, it's an International rotary cutter, ie, Bush Hog style mower. At least, that's what I found.
Cheers!

And he only spent $850 for her. Great deal. She works in the woods and is a bargain to boot!

Yes - I have a JD4310 with International Machines 5' chopper (IM502 - the "2" indicates it has a slip clutch). Really I was just trying out the post capabilities here. My wife was a city girl and now I can't get her off the tractor. Nice to meet you all.

I have made a number of improvements on my small 2 acres with this JD. Next week will try to dig and clean up some more stone wall. I will dig down deep with the 47 backhoe to remove all the sunk stones and then pick through and sort the rock for future stone wall work.

We do the same thing with our International "bushog". Works great - back up to the pile and slowly drop 'er down. Bye bye brush pile.
