Grapple Brush Grapple

This is the grapple that my local dealer installs. I've messed around with it, and it's probably the most heavy duty grapple I've seen for compact tractors. he quoted me $2400 installed with switch operated opening/closing.

A grapple is an excellent tool.

What size grapple is it that you are considering?

Also, I only see one cylinder on the grapple in the pic.

Who is the grapple made by? It may be thinner guage metal

How far will the grapple open?

How is the installed grapple plumbed? rear remotes? valve?

Just some things to consider when comparing.

I just purchased the WR Long RBG 72 - @ $2200 + $200 shipping + $200 for quickconnect hoses to run from my rear remotes to FEL. You can also purchase an valve instead of the extra lines at appx. $500 - just to give you an idea of cost.

I may just get the front forks for Branson for what I need. Much cheaper.

Several posters have mentioned what to check for. I recently purchased the Worksaver unit that has differential grappling capability with 2 pistons. The Worksaver is heavy duty and has welded, and replaceable, tines on the bottom for easily digging roots. I have managed to move some very big items including brush, timber, and boulders. With the heavy duty capability came a weighty unit which means watching the carrying weight vs lift. My JD 5325 with BH is a heavy unit which allows for the carry and lift consideration. The unit you show looks medium duty to me whereas the Long root rake + grappler looks to be heavier duty at the same price. The Worksaver as the single clamp or 2 clamp unit is more expensive but worth comparing. As others in this forum passed along to me the root rake - grappler is a fantastic attachment that expands your work capability. Good luck.

Look closer at the pic of the one on the Branson tractor - it has single cylinder located in the middle, whereas the WR Long has twin cylinders - one located on each side

Attached is a pic of what the WR Long unit looks like on my tractor.

You can call WR Long and talk to Nelson - He will be able to tell you for sure, as well as answer any and all questions you may have. They are family owned co.

One thing is for sure - a grapple is worth the money if you have the need. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
