Kubota L3301 HST/LA525 & 1964 Ford 2000 gas
I got a 6 ft land pride brush hog when I bought my L3301 Kubota as part of the package deal. I didn't really need it but wife thought go ahead now and have it. (Good wife)

I'm not a farmer by any means and just use the tractor and implements to make my life easier as I do things by myself. So I'm not exposed to much of the agricultural or farming life like some of you guys. Which makes the Internet and forums like this a great thing.

Anyway. I had a Farmall H and the a Ford 8N way back only because I've always loved tractors. No reason to have but I did.

One of them came with a brush hog. That was the most terrifying thing I ever had on a tractor. It threw stuff everywhere, broke constantly, and was loud as ****. Once it pushed me and the 8N through the barn wall. I hated that thing with a passion as a young adult.

So with some slight apprehension, I hooked up the new cutter today to clear out some overgrown flat land for the neighbor. I reasoned that now was a good time as any to learn what to expect.

Let me tell you, something has changed in the 25 years since I last pulled one!
Turning on the PTO left it quietly whirring dropped it and got after it slowly. A few rocks had me scrambling to pull the 3 pt up but eventually that became commonplace also.

I'm pretty tickled to have it now. It worked great and when I got back to the house I rinsed it off and looked underneath for damage from the rocks. Not one bit! Impressed the **** out of me.

Now I have to find some more somewhat flat land to cut as the hill I live on is only rocks with a little dirt for the weeds to grow in.

Before and after shots. Exact same place.

Looks great. Yes, lots has changed between your 8N and your new Kubota. That 8N needed an overrun clutch to keep the cutter from pushing the tractor.

Bushhogs are like goats and hogs in the woods. They can completely transform an area. Lol! I'll post up a video of my field when I have a chance.

Yep, I sure remember those old tractors and rotary cutters, still have some made in the 50's, but we've added over running clutches. My brothers still use them, but I'll pass, too many dislocated thumbs from kick back and bruises from chunks thrown into my back and so on. I love our Woods DS1260 and Land Pride RCR2672 with chain guards, not to mention the cabs, ah the cabs.:)

My 2600 is bare bones. No power steering and run an over running clutch. The hog does make the front end significantly lighter, so it's easier to steer. Lol! I've thought of fabbing up a chain guard, but the mud flap worked pretty good in this situation.

You are sure tougher than I am, but I'm pretty old with lots of rough miles.

When I first got my 2672, I had rubber flaps, but found it disperses cutting and cuts better with chains. Our flap on the Woods lasted less than a year, but we cut some really rough stuff.

I'm not that tough. I just love working my tractor whenever I have a chance. It's very therapeutic. It's my way of escaping all the normal day to day drama. Lol!

That 2672 looks like one sweet brush cutter. Btw, I did notice the rubber flaps interfere some. That's why I contemplated doing the chains. I've got to clear another 200 yard stretch of my property line this summer. I just might rig up some chains to see how they do.

Where in Missouri are you from (if you don't mind me asking)? I've got an old friend that lives near the Ozarks.

Exactly, it wasn't the cutters fault, it was the operators fault.... ER.. Lack of a orc's fault ;) :)
