Bucket bleed down?

Odd? I have a new Kubota 2601 with fel and backhoe with under 50 hours. Since new the backhoe bucket would bleed out and curl down towards the ground after several days of sitting. Two weeks ago I did a small job with her and parked her as usual.
She's been sitting for better than a week and no bleed down at all? I fired the machine up three days ago and ran all the controls and everything seems to work fine.
I just checked her this morning after three day and still no sign of movement-bleed down.
Should this be of concern?

Probably just a little piece of trash stuck in the control valve. I wouldnt worry about it unless it starts getting worse.

When I took her out two weeks ago, I attempted to dig up my Septic Tank covers. I say attempted because the ground has 6" of frost. Plus the outside temp was in single numbers. All I did was bounce around for five minutes and then put the machine away. I ended up using a bar by hand for six hours. Do you think the Pressure relief valve is messed up? All I did was claw at the ground for about five minutes. The only thing I accomplished was sliding the tractor around in the snow.

Cold seals often allow a little leaking then quit when it warms up.

A little leak down is nothing to worry about. You shouldn't be leaving it parked with the hoe up anyway.

The fact that the issue went away on its own, I agree with mudstopper.

I always lock the boom and dipstick with the locking pins.
This is about the bucket only. She has always bled out and reached for the ground after sitting for several days.
She stopped doing this.. She's Locked up and tight and in place.
I'm just wondering why the bucket all of a sudden stopped falling about.

I'm OCD about things like this so cut me some slack.

I'm with LD1 on this, I never leave any hydraulic attachment or implement elevated when I park. Everything is resting on the ground and all hydraulic pressure is relieved by moving the sticks after the tractor is shut off. Hydraulic "drift" has to be pretty bad for me to notice when running the equipment.

I can't scientifically justify my concern. I just think it's unnecessary to leave that weight on the chassis of the equipment.

Guy asked me awhile back if the blade on the grader I run drifts down when parked?? He must have thought I was stupid or something. I stuttered and stammered and finally said I have no idea because in the last five years I've never parked it with the blade off the ground. I think he thought I was being a Smart Butt....... :confused3:

I always set the FEL at rest. I pin up the boom and dipper stick with the supplied pins. This is all about the backhoe bucket that curls out siting only 1' above the ground.

I think it just has to do with the small cylinders used on the SCUTs and CUTs. I have a like new MF GC1720 and from the day of delivery the backhoe bucket would slowly uncurl/drift with gravity. Nothing to be concerned about. Why yours has now stopped doing that, is strange, but perhaps it is now 'broken in'.

I imagine if there was concern, the mfr would have also made the bucket pin-able like the boom.

I was just wondering why the bucket stopped curling down. Concerned maybe I had broke something. The last time I took her out I was trying to dig the ground to no avail. Just bouncing the machine around atop the Frost.

I doubt you've broken anything. If the bucket curl still functions then certainly not.

The idea of being able to pin a backhoe boom is to relieve the pressure from the hydraulics when using the FEL. While bouncing around using the tractor that stabilizes the hoe assembly. Although it can be used when parking, that isn't the original intent.

Not so sure...if I don't pin my backhoe, that sucker will fall to the ground within a day.

I was brought up around equipment, everything was always lowered to the ground for safety and to take load off the equipment. I am absolutely incapable of walking away from the tractor with anything in the air.

I just looked this stuff up in the owners manual for my Kubota backhoe (B21). It says, when leaving the equipment unattended, lower the backhoe to the ground. It says the boom pin is to be used when operating the loader or driving from one work site to another.

The friction in the cylinder or linkage may have increased for some reason. With the engine off move the bucket control valve to lower the bucket. If it doesn't move it must be binding more than it was. Maybe it's just the low temperature?

Maybe the bucket pivot and linkage needs some lube.
