I am wanting to put some hooks on top of my bucket. The top however is unlike any I have seen. The top edge is a pipe which leaves no flat surface to weld to. I am sure I can figure something out just curious if anyone has already mounted them on something like this and had ideas to share.

The hooks on there in the pic were put on by the previous owner. I am taking them off I don't like hooks on the edge it is easy to bend things

These are what I used.

The flat back with the beveled edge is ideal for welding on nearly any surface. The way they are made you could likely weld them to the flat area just behind the pipe with them extended up some and build a weld between the upper edge of the hook and where the pipe begins to round.

Not the same situation, but the same idea...

Weld least 1/4" angle iron top of roll and bucket.

Since you will be using the hooks for chain they do not need to be right on the rounded edge of the bucket. Just move back of the rounded edge to where the metal is flat and weld away. Depending on how thick the bucket metal is you may have to weld a small back up plate on the inside of the bucket opposite of the hooks. I just bought and installed a bolt on set of hooks for my NH T 4.75 and could kick myself for not doing it years ago. The hooks are a world handier than wrapping chain all the way around the bucket.

weld them or bolt them. Bolting is lots easier. Get the back up plates if you thing you need them.

Ken has good stuff.

Thanks for the recommendations, but the Bolt On Hooks are not compatible with these round-topped buckets. Welding just behind the round tube seems to be the best choice.

not even putting it behind the 'tube'? Is it a double wall?

I have the HD round bucket also. When I bought the tractor the dealer recommended the edge as the best place. My hooks have been there for 15 years and I have picked some very heavy stuff on the hooks. I have never bent them digging either. Mine are a little higher than yours.

Go ahead and add some on top but I doubt if you will bend the ones you have if you leave them on.

You could weld a short piece of shallow channel along the tube to give you a flat to weld or bolt on a hook'

Edit: Or angle - just as good as Thomas mentioned. Sorry I missed that.
