I have a New Holland TC29D that I've been putting through the paces lately. Today, while I was trying to put the MMM on, I tried to lift front wheels off ground using bucket. It couldn't get the wheels off the ground, and I still had plenty of piston left. I was at 2500 rpm.

By going though paces, I've been draging and lifting logs. Only one could I lift to 30% of hieght, and moving dirt. Only that one log was the only one to strain the system.

Fluid level it at max, and it;s clean, no bubbles.

Ideas?

Check the relief valve pressure settings. There should be at least 2. One on the loader control valve and one on the 3 Point Hitch hydraulic circuit. The lower of the two will control overall pressure.

Were you in neutral when trying lift the front tires? If not try in neutral since the rear tires must roll to lift the front very much.

my tractor will not lift front without putting gear range in neutral or feathering HST forward while lowering the loader.

Yes. It has to be in nuetral to start, and since I wasn't moving it, I kept it there.
I will double check in the am, just to be sure...

Sometime it depends on the angle of the bucket. If it roll backed all the way it won’t lift as easily. Dump the bucket some so just the cutting edge is on the ground it will lift easier. Full dump the bucket will lift the easiest and highest but your cylinders are fully extended and easier to bend like this.

Often trying to get the last couple of inches of hydraulic cylinder stroke on a loader is difficult because of the geometry
of the loader frame.
Many times as has been mentioned curl the bucket down then try.

Thanks, tried that as well. I know I used to be able to pack down dirt, lifting my wheels. But the bucket was 1 foot or more higher than normal ground level. I will try that again today to see if it still does that.
My big concern was that by lifting a log that my tractor couldn't lift more than 30% of its range, that I may have caused something.

I often lift stuff that is beyond my loaders capacity. It might just lift it a few inches or not at all. Usually this is something like a log and I just cut some off if I can’t lift. Normally nothing is harmed and you can here the pump go into relief.

For what its worth, the loader does lose lift capacity as it raises and significantly reduced at full height.
This is because the distance from the centerline of force (the lift cylinder) moves closer (distance) to the pivot point of the loader arms as the loader is raised. Torque equals force times distance.

In neutral AND with the brakes released.. Did you perhaps use the parking brake last time you parked it and forget it was on? I could also see some types of 3pt implements sitting on the ground acting as enough of a brake to cause this.

My B8200 won't lift the front if it's not in neutral (unless im rolling it forward some with the hst), or if the brakes are on.
