Are the newer type scissor style bucket tilts better than the old single pivot design? Would it be worth it to convert to the newer style?

Not quite sure what you are getting at, but if you are talking about the parallel linkage between the bucket cylinder and the bucket then here's my understanding. The parallel linkage provides two advantages; 1) it gives the bucket cylinder more leverage for breakout work and backdragging, and 2) it eliminates the pinch point created when the bucket cylinder rod is attached directly to the bucket. With the bucket cylinder rod attached directly to the bucket, material (especially small stones) can spill over the bucket and "pinch" between the rod surface and the bucket causing damage to the rod which eventually damages the seals in the cylinder causing them to leak.

Generally economy built loaders use the direct connect while a high quality loader will use the parallel linkage.

I hope this answers your question.

the linkage also alows for more movement of the bucket. they will roll back a little further, and dump further with the linkage, compared to just the cyl hooked to the bucket.

My 410 loader WITHOUT the linkage does not have enough roll-back to make me happy. Without the linkage, the design has to compromise between more rollback when the bucket is on the ground and better dump angle at full height.

Since I rarely dump anything at full height (the highest thing my 410 can dump into is a large pick-up truck), I would rather have more roll-back.

I am thinking of making some spacer blocks to go between the quick-attach pins and the plate on the loader frame to tilt the bucket back a few more degrees.

I see by looking at the pics of new kubota loaders that the attaching point for the linkage off the loader arms in the center of the loader arms. will the geometry be the same with the hole on the outside of the arm???
