I am a total rookie to this tractor game, so if someone can give guidance to the following we sure would appreciate.
On our International 354 Gas Tractor the Allied Loader will raise the bucket when lever is pulled back, but when I push the lever forward the bucket wants to continue upwards direction, not sure why.
Fluids seem okay (full) and a visual inspection of tractor and hoses I don't see any obvious leaks (at least where fluid is flowing) so not sure where to go next, - I am thinking in the lever control box ????

If the valve is cable operated, it could be the cables.

Remove the work port hoses from the tee connection and place in a bucket and operate the lever and see if fluid comes out each work port as you move the lever.

When you pull the lever back, fluid should flow out one of the work ports.

When you push the lever fwd, fluid should flow out the other work port.

Also notice if fluid continues to flow from the work ports with valve lever in neutral.

You might inspect the load checks on the valve.

J.J. Thanks for responding - the 2 lever valve body (seems almost piston like) not sure if that is correct terminology all I see is all hydraulic fluid which flows through hoses to the cylinders which move bucket direction or the other which does tilt, but I don't see any cables, so not sure what you mean.

If you have two lever, don't worry about it.

Some tractors have remote valves wherever on the tractor and the cable operated levers are located at the operator station.

Other tractors have the levers attached to the valve such as yours and directly operated.

In order to see if the valve spools are feeding the work ports, you need to see the flow from each work port.

Otherwise, fluid should not come out the both work port when you pull back on the lever.

Are you levers returning back to neutral?

Did you inspect the load checks to see if the spring and seat look OK.

Is your 3pt lever in neutral. It could be blocking the flow somehow.

Neutral meaning that the lever is about the middle of travel and the 3pt arms are holding steady.

The logic here is that if the 3pt is blocking the flow, the fluid could provide some back pressure and affect the FEL valve.

Logic also says that the lever in neutral, no cyl action should occur.

The tilt yes goes back to neutral, but the up\down lever seems to get stuck sometimes when pushed forward to lower bucket.
No I did not inspect the load checks? to see if the spring and seat look ok.
Is there some type of manual I can see or download on internet to make sure I can read before dismantling the lever control box, or is this a simple procedure even a rookie (I do have some mechanical understanding) with some guidance can do. I sure hope so!!!!!

I do believe I am understanding to make sure the flow is working correctly, that I should be able to do tonight,

I would also remove the cans on the bottom of the valve, inspect, clean, add grease to prevent water ingress causing trouble.

Your float springs and balls are under one of the cans.

Your dealer should have a breakdown of the valve, or search the Internet.

Can you read a name or model number on the valve.
