Hi all,

I have 15 hours or so on a new to me DK45. The unit has 201 hours overall so I was not expecting an issue so soon, but one just appeared. My loader bucket will not uncurl via the hydraulics. If I hold the controller over to where it should drop, the bucket will slowly move down, but I believe that is mostly gravity. Here is the odd part, if I move the controller hard over to the right, the bucket will not only not uncurl, but will actually curl up as if I had pulled the controller hard the the left.

I'm new to hydraulics, but the issue would seem to be in the controller vs the loader cylinders themselves yes? Any thoughts, one person mentioned an o ring failing inside the controller thus letting fluid go places its not supposed to, possibly explaining why the bucket curls when I am telling it to uncurl.

Can the controller be repaired/rebuild or is a new/replacement one the way to go?

Thanks

Have you removed the quick disconnects at all? Even if you haven't, check them and maybe just remove them and reinstall.

I had a problem where my bucket would only lift about 1ft off the ground then stop. It turns out, one of my hydraulic hose connectors had come loose enough to stop the flow.

I'll give that a try. It would be great if that fixed it. Thanks

I had that happen on my DK45. Connection came loose under floorboard behind right step. Took a while to find it because it looked like it was still connected. Scared me, but BIG relief when I reconnected it and all worked again.

get it fixed yet?? also check the color coding on the quick connects to make sure there in the right ports.

1st, Check the oil level. as others have stated, check to make sure that the QDs are properly orientated and fully engaged. Do all the other loader functions work? if so, it may be a spool valve. Some can be rebuilt, others are better off replacing vs. rebuilding.
If the other loader functions are not working, buy the correct hydraulic fitting and a gauge and check the pressure in the system...
When trying to curl/un-curl, do you hear any abnormal noises.

Definitely look at the connections under the floorboards/OP station. I've disconnected the outermost connection twice on little stumps, etc.
I wouldn't suspect the joystick control just yet.

Hi Folks,

Not had a chance to check, Tractor is about an hour away from home at my future homestead. Thanks all for the suggestions. I will definitely check the quick connects. Perhaps all my mowing of last year's weeds and some small brush did knock something loose. It would be great if that was it.

To address the questions, the fluid is not low and other than uncurling the FEL works normal and does not make any unusual sounds. The part that still has me pessimistic about the controller is that if one pushes the control arm hard away the bucket not only does not uncurl, it actually curls.

That's EXACTLY the way mine acted when it became disconnected. I'm betting that's all it is and all will be fine.

I agree with Steve, and don't worry about the worst case until you've checked out what we've been telling you to verify:thumbsup:
