Bugs in the firewood

OrthoChlor. If I see bugs in the pile, I spray the pile. I spray the whole exterior of the house and hit the foundation, ground and walls on the porch where I store my boxes of wood an extra dose. I spray the wood boxes too. Nasty stuff, works good.

The Ortho stuff sounds interesting. I'll look into it, I like the idea of protecting the house as well...

There was a time when you could buy diazinon and wipe out all life forms on that pile with a quick spray. I would look for the enviro friendliER equivalent and spray. If you have undesirable bugs around your home, you need to kill them before they come into your home.

OrthoChlor was available at Home Depot last year @ ~$35/qt. Didn't need any this year so don't know if they outlawed another good product or not.

HGM - I store my winters wood in the basement and have the bug problem - spray the piles with Blue can Raid. Also have problem with fungus growing on some of the hard maple - don't know what it is, butjust throw the wood into the fire.
