Build Culvert Pipe Out Of Old Hot Water Heater Tanks??

Bought some land and need two culverts to cross small drainage areas in the driveway. 18-24" diameter would be plenty.

I've heard of people getting free hot water tanks and welding them together to make thier own culvert pipes.

Anyone done this or know much about it? I have access to four free tanks and that's just from talking to one person lol.

Wish you were closer as I have a 24' piece of 18" pipe with 1/4" wall you could have. Just crooked enough that I can't use it to build a roller. I live in New Mexico.

Check with local guys that install field drainage tiling, the large roles of plastic come with about a 12in x8 ft peice of plastic culvert as a spool. I see these left in the feilds when they are done, 2 locals near me have stacks of these. I have been meaning to stop and ask about them. They make pastic couplers to connect culvert sections, if they could be had free or cheap, this may he a cheap option. If any body is around this weekend I will check on size and price.

Even steel culvert isn't that expensive. The ribs give it its strength.

A builder that started the development I'm in used hot water tanks. They lasted about 25 years and caved in.
