building a cab enclosure for a mini-ex

I have a mini-excavator that is all open and I'd love to build a cab for it. The ROPS make for the perfect support structure, I would just need to fabricate the walls and door. I can get all the sheet metal/hardware I would need, the big question I have is anyone know where I would be able to buy windows and window molding?? thanks in advance.

Do a search. I have read several posts about people that have built their own cabs. They come out really great. I was thinking that some of them were using automotive glass custom cut. I was thinking someone used bus windows?

Any auto glass shop should carry glass and moulding. I had a glass shop special cut some tempeded glass for the cab of my PC50uu Komatsu hoe. I take it out in the summer. Mine had a factory cab missing the front glass. The heater and the glass in there make it nice to work in this weather.

Yep, I posted that some time back.

Made a cab for my MT180D using 2 x 2 tubing, metal screwed the pannels onto the tubing and used a jigsaw to cut out openings for the buss windows.
Scrap yards don't want glass, only metal so the glass is , like close to free!

I screwed the pannels because I used galvanised stock as I did not want a pannel that would scratch and get all rusty. As you know it is not easy to weld galvanised material to steel. This way I have a neet look.
My back wiindow pannel has folded edges and the top is hinged for summer ventilation.
Roof also has folded over edges to act as 'rain drip' and I left front and rear overhang of about 3" to have less water on windows. Works! (also shelters my flood lights).

I was thinking of doing the same thing, check out this website they have tons of window molding and lots of other things you may find interesting. www.mcmaster.com
