Connex box doesn't need to be inside the barn. Get some kind of dessicant to keep the humidity level down or a stack (or two) for roof ventilation, and you'll alleviate the mold problems.
True, I even know where I could get a 10' one, but will it stay waterproof and critterproof outside with little to no maintenance for 10 years?Connex box doesn't need to be inside the barn. I suspect that they cut down a longer box to make them, they look just like a full size storage container, except shorter. Here is their page: https://averdi.com/storage_containers/ten_footThey're made of Cor-ten steel - the stuff is designed to rust a little and then not rust at all.

That is, if it's a true connex. I'm not aware of a 10' connex box. There's lots of sheet metal storage containers which are made out of plain mild steel (possibly galvanized), and they won't handle ground contact nearly as well.
