I'm very disapointed in the 54 blade that i have for my JD 2210. I was thinking about getting a FEL mounted Curtis Plow but i decided that i'm going to build my own plow that has a longer with and a higher mold board height. I was thinking of two things. 1. Buying a 72" or 60" ATV for about 200 to 300 bucks and somehow adapting it to my 2210. or 2. Buying some old rust bucket small truck plow off ebay and restoring it and cutting it to whatever dimensions i wanted and then adapting it to my tractor. Neither of these would have any hydraulics on them so what hydraulic cylinders would you suggest to use for lift and angle?

Have you considered a used truck plow that has the lift and angle cylinders already attached?

The first one I did that way, and it was off an old jeep. About a 6' plow, if I remember right, and I added the angle cylinders. The one I have now is a new 7' Western plow, and I put it on my Deere 4300.

Now is a good time of the year to be looking for those old plows, hiding in the weeds somewhere. Good luck.

Now that i think of it i know were theres an old plow. It must be from way way back becaus its in this big dead field behind my friends house with all this old horse drawn farm equpment stuff like this huge yoke rake and field plows. We were using it as a barrier for paintball the other day. The only problem is theres no mounting of any kind on it all there is is a half circle with about a 6 inch diameter with some holes drilled in it. And the other problem is that theres almost no concave to it its less than ) that almost straight and theres no supports behind it its auculy built just like the JD 54 plow except its has a higher mold board and its wider. Do you know how i could get a greater concave angle on it?

I don't know.

Keep looking, and you will find what you want. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Howdy Neighbor (Not sure if we "yankees" are allowed to say howdy, but I'm going to anyway... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)

I'm going to advise against making a larger plow for your 2210. I run a New Holland TC18 (same size as Deere 4110). I've got a blower on it now, but the first couple winters I plowed with it, I used a 60" rear blade with a 12" moldboard.

If the snow was heavy or deep, the tractor would walk sideways instead of plowing the snow to one side. Last winter we were blessed with pretty light fluffy snow.

If I were you, I'd be looking at adding a snowblower to my arsenal, not upgrading the plow. I picked up a used 18" blower for $450. If I were a richer man, I'd have gone with the front blower. It is much, much faster to clear the snow with the blower than by plowing.

Food for thought...
