Hi guys. I have been lurking around for awhile here. I am just about finished with this scoop/bucket. I still need to add the dump cylinder, finished some of the welds and paint. Anyway here is a shot of it as it is currently. Hope to have all the welds completed, dump cylinder on and primed by Sunday.

Pretty sweet! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
What are you going to use for weight/ballast in the back?

Thanks it was a fun project to build and low cost. I used all scrape steel. Probably less than $200 in it after paint. I have a 3 point hitch that I am going to hook my core aereator to with about 250lbs of weight on it. Probably within the next week or so I will build a weight box for it.

Hi accordionman, yea...tis me. I have the final color coat on it now. The hydraulic cylinder I ordered from Surplus Center was bad and I have to talk to them tomorrow to ship out a new one. Hopefully they will ship one right out and I will be using this next weekend.....

Bob,

I have been seriously considering building one of those. Some may say that it's a joke but I feel like if it can save me some time, it is all worthwhile. Besides that, I have a good time constructing things. Your tractor is much bigger than mine but just because it's smaller doesn't mean that it can't have a smaller loader. I would like to be able to lift it high enough to dump into a 10 cu. ft. trailer though. I have been kicking around using electric motors and worm/screw gears for the lift. Don't know if it will be strong enough though. Seems like it kinda depends on where the lever is positioned. I think it could work and if not hydraulics could always be used. How much do you think you could lift with that? If I could load 3-4 cu. ft. of material, I would be happy. Does anyone now where I could find out material weights?

I made one similar for my Farmall Cub to be run off the front cultivator lift using the factory blad frame. The scoop was from a lawn tractor 3 point i built in high school. I wa and inch narrower than the front tires. I used it to fill in the area between the wall and the slab of my shop with crushed stone and a few other projects. It was a trip bucket design. I moved lot of waste from old dairy barns and sale barns with it. I made one for my cousins Mitsubishi and it gets used in his landscaping business for putting stone in flower beds and mulch in areas where his Deere cant go. Cant wait to see some more pics of your scoop.

Hi Chad. Not sure what tractor you have. Mine has hydraulics and I can also put down pressure for digging. The cylinder I bought from Surplus Center had a problem and they are shipping out a new one today. I should have it by Friday. If so I will be able to complete the project and have it working moving dirt this weekend. I will post completed and action pictures when I get finished.

If you don't have hydraulics you could always use a small electric wench and use a trip cord to dump...

God luck and don't forget to post your pics so we can see.
