I've seen people on this board talk about having to grab a good tractor while it's available - and not waiting.

Looked at a 425 with 244 hours on it for $4000. Immaculate. Went to look at it at a dealer's lot on Thursday afternoon. Spent the rest of the day and next morning figuring out how to pull money together to pay for it. Called him late morning Friday to buy it.

Sold.

Not meant to be, I guess. But, it was a darned good one and I'm disappointed. The search will have to continue...

A co-worker of mine has one that just had a tune up at the dealer. Has 1200 hrs on it and he is a fanatic about maintaining it. He was going to trade on a new Series 1, but he wanted to see if he could sell it outright first. He is looking for $2500 firm. He has the receipts for the tune up.

Think of it as practice. Now that you have the finances ready and have done your research on the tractor, you'll be able to react much more quickly when the next oportunity comes along.

Stuff like that never happens to me, I always have plenty of money to buy anything I want. I wish,;)

As said just keep the funds available and keep looking so you can grab the next deal.

As pointed out, good practice. I've had two really good deals in the past few yrs.

1st, know your equipment.

2nd. have the funds close to ready. For me, it was my banker havn his **** together. And him knowing i had another bank on speed dial.

3rd. Economy sucks and its time to find the good ones. Be ready.

It is so nice to buy something under value. For instance. I bought a NH TN75da that a buyer had payed $58,000.00 the previous yr. Full cab,FEL,BH w/thumb, etc. 300 hours. $32,000.00 out the door. i was lucky was the first caller, and i was ready. Which usually I am not.

When I sell or buy anything. Know the amount reached is for that time if no money put down to retain until getting act together. The next buyer to come buy is the one considered. if money is put down it is held for a agreed time.
If you found a better price would you have called the person to tell him you have backed out or let him hold as another looks and told your buying and he then goes another way also.
Just my thinking ken

Last fall I had a 2320 sold out from under my interest. You have to be ready to buy. Then I thought I could buy a x748 they had, someone else jumped on it. This spring I was ready to buy, a used 2320 factory unit with 51 hours and got 0% so go figure.
