Bumper for Kubota Zero Turn Mower

A few months ago my wife got a new Kubota ZG-23 to mow our yard with. Once in a while she'll bump into something with it and we were afraid that the cute little hood on it was going to get crunched. So I welded up a bumper using heavy wall tube. I added a tow hitch and then painted it with POR 15 and a top coat of Krylon. See the attached picture.

I wanted to have it block more of the hood like a brush guard but when you open the hood it would get in the way. So I stuck with a simple bumper design.

I mounted it using a piece of plate steel on each side and 4 bolts 3/8" by 1.25".

The crazy part is that she loves to mow our grass and she gets irritated if the kids or I try to help. I get my chance to make up for it in the winter months. She won't leave the house so I do all of the shoveling and taking the kids outside to play. I can't complain, life is good.

Gene, fine job on the bumper! On the "brushguard" I would come up off the bumper on both sides with a 6 inch peice 1/4" flat stock, now build your 'brushguard' to fit on the outside of these uprights lift your brushguard approx. 1/2" above the bumper then drill two 3/8" holes in each upright and brushguard about 2 to3 inches apart one above the other both sides, on the bottom holes use a 3/8 bolt with a locking nut, on the top holes use a 3/8 pin. this way you can pull the pins and using the bottom bolts as hinges tip the brushguard foward to raise your hood. Hope you can understand this as my fingers can't seem to read my mind very well or is it the other way around/forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I would not need my wifes help to punch a hole in one of my garage doors with the tab sticking out from your bumper.
(don't ask how I know /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)
I made a 2" receiver hitch that is within the bumper of my <font color="green"> JD </font> mower.
