I know the overall birthrate is down but Holy Smokes, at church yesterday there were more than twenty below three year old kids in a congregation of less than 120 people. Ours has always been a church of older people but the average age has dropped a lot the past two years. There is now one entire pew full of girls from ten to fifteen sitting together.
When the old preacher retired the elders hired a twenty one year old who had attended here as a child. He quickly set his sights on a young gal who he had been sweet on as a kid. They are now married and have a six month old. Since his hiring there have been several more come back who had attended as children.
With only two or three exceptions, in the fifty years I have attended that church, all of the young people have stayed out of trouble, graduated school, married, and raised families. Makes you feel good when you can watch a group of young people grow up and be successful in life.
