new to this burning stuff, but burned some stuff to cdr"s and it worked fine, today i tryed burnning a cd-rw, multi session(want to be able to use like a big floppy) the multi session worked ok but then i found i could not move, copy or delete anything on the disk, says it is read only. it is a new liteon burner, with nero burning software, WHAT DID I DO WRONG?

Don't know how Nero works, but in my Roxio Easy CD creator you have to format it as an R/W with the Direct CD utility in order to get it to work as a "big floppy".

You do have to format it correctly to be rewrightable. I think your problem stems from calling it a multisession disk. When recording, and you want to add to or erase it later, leave the disk open.

I have had a number of burners and I believe the liteon is the best one, that I have ever used. But I don't like the Nero program. I find the Roxio Easy CD creater is one of the best. Of course you would have to buy it unless someone would give you a copy, I know they aren't suppose to do that, but it does happen. But like the man said you must not close the CD or you can't add to it. If you don't close one with music, you probably can't play it in another CD player, till you do.

I have Nero, because it came with cdrw. But it stinks. I've also heard Roxio was good but have been too cheap to buy it. I'm actually considering getting a different cdrw, one that comes with good software. There are apparently different types, (I can't explain this, maybe someone else can) and I got one of the cheap ones of course. And it's not very conducive to using as a drive.

Like I said I have had about 4 or 5 different brands of burners. I love my liteon, it is a better burner than any of the other ones. Nero, I don't use, one or two times of it was enough. Haven't used it since. If you would get Roxio, I think you would be happy with the liteon. It is not that cheap of a burner, any of them is cheap, if you buy them in the right place. The person that got me to buy it is one who installs systems in schools, and works with computers every day, and he said it was as good as they come. Of course you may not have liteon, as I'm sure Nero must come with other ones too. It did come with the liteon though. And I hate it.

i also have no problems with the liteon burner, also the nero software is fine, i just don't know how to use it correctly yet. i have heard good and bad about roxio cd creator. i use Roxio photo editing software and that works fine.

I have used Roxio for sometime and if there is any bad about it, I havn't found it. I know it works a lot better, than Nero. Faster to format. Althought I generally us my Windows XP to do that, as it works pretty good for formating.

If you write a RW CD, You cant move or delete anything off of it. You can BURN more data or reburn the data with NERO but its always going to be a read only device except to your burning software
