Bush Hog 2426 loader/ Grapple

I have a Case IH C50 with a Bush Hog 2426 loader. I would like to install a grapple. I was wondering can the hydraulic lines for the grapple be installed in the loader arms like the lines for the bucket cylinders are? I know I can buy a WR Long kit, But I did not like the price I was quoted for it. Has anyone installed their hydraulic lines for their grapple this way?

I followed Island's example and installed a two spool valve for my grapple rather than the diverter like the long kit. I think he did not need to add the remotes though. I was able to install it right next to my loader control so it is very convenient. It cost a only a little less but but gave me greater functionality. At some point I want to get a hydrailic top link, and all I will need is hoses.

My lines run on the outside of the loader arms. I just used some tie wraps to rune my new lines right parrallel with my loader lines. If they will fit in your frame I cannot imagine why you could not run them there. Seem like it woould keep em safer. You will need a fair amount of slack between the the front of the frame and the grapple to allow full curling for picking up sticks.

I ran an old inner tube between my loader arms to help with hose control.

That's pretty slick the way those hoses are run inside the loader arms.
Seems like the best method to keep them out of harm's way. If you can do that, great. But if not, it's OK to run them along the inside of the arms too. That's what I did.



You can see the black grapple hoses above the steel loader lines on the loader arm.
I fastened them with rubber lined HD hose clamps.
Turned out pretty clean and a simple installation that way.

Any other ideas. I will need a bracket that I can mount the quick disconnects to. where can I get it? Or will I have to make it? I have not yet decided how to run the lines, So any input would be great

OK, You stated "you did not like the price" of the WR Long kit, so how are you going to operate the grapple?

As far as mounting the couplers, you'll need to make it (but it's included in the WR Long kit)...easy to do with a piece of 2 1/2" or 3" angle iron and some bulkhead fittings.

I thought I would run the lines down the loader arms and plug them into the rear remotes. I cant seam to remember how much the WR Long kit was. Mabe someone can remind me

The WR Long kit runs about $550. It includes all hoses and hardware, and a new handle for your joystick.

I have tried to install the lines in the loader arms but there is not enough room. So I guess I need to run them down the outside of the arms.

Hi Guys, New hear but have been watching and learning from the sidelines. KennyD interesting note about the WR Long kit. Would you say that is a better way to go than piecing the hydraulics together part by part? Just wondering as I am in the process of purchasing a Markham grapple for my 2520. I got a list price from Long for $483.00 not including shipping but, I thought maybe I could do better building my own joystick handle with switch and then buying and mounting the same diveter valve as you did. Don't know yet as to what hoses and fittings would cost. What your thoughts as you have been through this. Thanks!
