There were messages in the forums a couple of months ago that Bush Hog was shutting down and trying to sell the business piecemeal.

What is the current status of Bush Hog? I've looked in Google but haven't found any solid information.

I'm looking at buying a new 10' rotary cutter and the dealer tells me that Bush Hog is in full operation, other than zero turn mowers and utility vehicles. Is he being truthful?

No sense spending thousands of dollars on a brand that won't have warranty or spare parts.

Thanks,
Ken

They're still up and running. They've sold off their loader mfg facilities according to what I'm hearing and are getting out of a couple areas where they shouldn't have gone in the first place. (per BH rep) Thought is to streamline the company to make it more attractive to investors/buyers.

Buy that mower. Bush Hog, the brand, will be around when you and I aren't.

Agreed. Over the years, several conglomerates have owned Bush Hog, and looking forward, there will be new owners again.

It's a good mower and will last a long time. Even if they did go out of business (which they are not) It's not like after years of use you will be trading it in on a newer model. I may be wrong with that statement in your case, but for most of us not.:D All parts are replaceable.

ALO bought them. Apparently there where 5-6 major companies in the running for them.

Its about time. We've been having some trouble getting some parts from them latley since they where no stocking as much as they did even a year ago.

in the world we live in today you may buy a "Bushhog" Decal on a cutter made in Korea or China----(Check out their tillers) the more things change the more they stay the same----equipment that last longer than 10 to 15 years will begin to be problems in the parts area----just too many brands to cover 20 years out----any one still using a 15 year old computer with 10 year old software?----the business model today is full of changes in short periods---parts and factories!!!-----Japan has beening using cash for clunkers for many years in the tractor business----TO HELP THE MFG'S!!

Did Alo buy the whole deal, or just the loaders and plant in TN? That was announced a month or so ago.

I was not really totally clear on that. At first the entire company was up for sale. However I think what Alo bought was the loader operation. They must have spun that off to generate the capital to keep operating.

----any one still using a 15 year old computer with 10 year old software?----

Bought this computer in 1999 and still running windows 98, missed the mark on the machine but not the software.
