What is a fair price for a 72 inch Bush Hog finish mower?

Hey Stoner. What are you looking at? New or used, side or rear discharge? I was quoted $1900-$2000 for a new Bushhog RDTH72, I believe that was the model #. It was a 6' rear discharge. Got quotes from 3 dealers and all were within $100.

It is a 6-foot Bush Hog finish mower with a rear discharge. The price I received from the local dealer was $2200. He said the 5-foot model was about $100 less. I thought $2200 was a little high. I have tried on few occasions to buy a tractor and implements from him and he gives me full suggested retail price and in some cases above retail. I have a local business and I try to keep my business local. I just want a fair competitive price and do not want to feel I have been taken advantage of.

Good for you on both sides of that logic. I bought some dive equipment once and wanted to deal locally (and did).

When I was in their store I was looking at some magazines that had the price of the magazine PRINTED on them, say $4.50 for arguments sake... the guy had put a piece of tape OVER that and put something like $8.50 on the tape (making numbers up)

Same store, I was quoted something like $1,500 for camera underwater housing. Went in to pick it up and same guy was there, wanted to charge me ANOTHER $250 because the price had gone up (evidently there was a supposed price increase between my order going in and pickup day, from the manufacturer)

I smiled and said "Well, I'm sure since I bought this BEFORE the price increase, I get the old price don't I???" trying to have a smile about it.

He kept his ground and wanted to charge me MORE. I kept my ground so he called the owner who in fact knew I was right and told him to hand the item over to me as it was already paid for.

The owner sold out to this guy and I've never set foot in there again since I now know how slimey this guy's predisposition of doing business is.

I found that Woods and Bush Hog units are priced very close when comparing like units. I was quoted $1600 from my dealer on a Woods 6' RFM Heritage model. I went ahead and ordered the heavier duty PRD 72" for $1900. His cost was $1820. The Bush Hog should be similiar in price.
