Yes Rob I realize it's a field mower and I am mowing fields with it -- I just wondered whether it was something I was doing wrong in forwards operation that was the main cause. I have learned to live with it, I just "thought" it was supposed to skid on top of the ground rather than dig into it. Whenever I cut backwards everything just rides on the top of the ground smoothly and yes I realize that that's because there are no edges to cut in. If what I'm doing is normal then all is fine. I was just asking if that was normal or not. Thanks.IF you have the cutter leveled side to side, and the front is a couple inches off the ground, and you expect it to "never" scrape the ground, then you are using the wrong cutter.
It's a "field" mower, not a "lawn" mower with anti scalp wheels on it!
