While leaving my dealer this afternoon I met a guy with a horror story. He was using his Kubota (don't know which one, but "about 10 HP less than that there TC45D") and driving it up over 2 inch saplings and heavy brush with a Bush Hog brand cutter. In any event he turned forward after watching the carnage and felt a thump below his right shoulder blade. He looked down to see a 1" sapling sticking out above his right nipple. Apparently he "got a little high on the saplings". To make a long story short let's say a cell phone saved his life. He diagrammed to me his rig with thick Lexan zip tied to his ROPS to protect himself. He was in the hospital 2 weeks and nearly lost his life from infection. Thought I'd share this since it sure did make me realilze what we're playing with. He said he won't get "cowboy" again with his rough cut and 4 wheel his tractor over thick sapplings. He was 74 when it happened. Hope I'm that tough at that age.

The guy looked like Jock Ewing from the old Dallas show. That would have killed me. He was getting a new NH TN with enclosed cab. Said he'd had enough with the elements. Guess I would have too.

This stuff is dangerous.

Sometimes people give me a hard time about the cab with ac. You know the stroy: "spoiled", etc..

But the day my disc mower threw a blade through the kevlar cover it put it all in perspective.

But there are somethings even a cab won't stop, like the end of a chain that has come loose from something.

Fred, I love my cab too. As I've said before this is my last tractor (unless I win the lottery) /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Over the 25+ years I run Bush Hogs, I've probably snapped about 4 blades including one that went right through the steel skirt and about 1/2 way through a 4" pine tree. fortunately I've never been hit with a piece. Usually they break at the bolt hole and the first thing I notice is a out of balance shake that has to be felt to be believed.

This is why I've got a metal cage on the back of my ROP.
