I'm sure you can retro it into the valve assembly of the bush-hog loader. The riser rod is just a piece of threaded rod with a bracket welded onto it. I'm not sure if the cost will make sense, but it sure is a nice feature to have when doing loader work.

Well I was going to use the machine for awhile and then see about either trying to add the joystick from NH or modifying the Bush Hog unit to hold the switch.

Would anyone out there mind taking a snap shot of what's underneth?

The handle assembly is quite simple. you have the riser rod with a funky lengthwise sliced piece of pipe that the handle screws onto...the handle...and the switch. I assume the wiring is probably tucked under the valve somewhere.

Do a search for " no joy" in the New Holland forums ( I haven't figured out how to link a post yet /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif ) and you'll find a lengthy analysis of the assembly. I only direct you there for pics. The new assembly is a bit different as you'll see towards the end of page 4 or 5 !!

If I were to guess, I'd say you'll be into somewhere near $ 150 for the whole thing.

More info...NH part 86400438 ( Deluxe loader handle assembly ) includes riser rod ( 7/16 - 20 threads ), handle, screw, nuts .... $ 115 at my dealer. You need to add a switch and boot if not tucked under the valve. That can't be too much. Pretty close to my $ 150 guess !! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I agree with what Spencer and others are saying. The M246 is probably fine on a Class III Boomer, but it was too big for a Class II Boomer. They are actually built by Great Bend. You won't have the weight issues I had. I don't know if you'll have the "brackets in the way" problems I had. I will never buy another bush hog brand product again because of the way I was treated. Good luck with your newly acquired tractor and FEL!
