For those who want to keep the side skirts of a bush hog from getting all dinged up from rocks etc, here is an idea to keep em looking new for a long time. I bolted pieces of 3/4" OSB on the inside of the outer skirts, that absorbes a lot of shock from flying debris and are cheaply replaceable. I've had these on the pictured hog for about 8 years now and they are still in good shape.
First pic shows the bolt heads from the outside. BTW, thats a Linebauh light duty hog that I painted Cat yellow (I like Cat yellow! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Second pic shows the 3/4" OSB on the inside of the skirts, its a little hard to see but its indeed there. It has kept my bush hog looking pretty new for quite a long time now.

That sounds like an outstanding idea. You're certainly right, the insides can get pretty darn beat up in no time. You haven't had to change out the OSB in all that time? I can't imagine how it takes that punishment for so long a time.
