Skyco:
I bought an el-cheapo at Tractor Supply, it was the least expensive that I could find. It is a "FarmForce", 48", $599. I only cut about 2 acres once a year.
I use it on my
BX23, it does a great job. No problem with the lift height or weight. I had to shorten the shaft a lot.
Here are a couple observations. I had ZERO experience with one of these before.
1. I hated driving through really tall stuff with my
BX23, but it appears that I had no issues with it. I went straight over trees up to about 8' tall, maybe 2 inch in diameter. I pushed them over with the bucket as I went. NO PROBLEM!
2. I was worried about flats. That was no problem either. The blades pulverized the stumps, driving over them was no issue.
3. ROCKS! I hit lots of rocks, never even knew they were there. I threw a couple bowling ball sized rocks about 30' from the machine. Be careful! There appeared to be no damage from that, the cutter kind of rides up and over stuff like that, the blades never stalled. I did notice that it would come out of balance, I had to shut it down and re-start it. The blades are loose, I think that by re-starting it straightens them out.
Have fun, you get a lot of stuff that looked impossible to cut done fast.
