Hey All,

I am trying to build a bush hog to tow behind my SXS to keep my trails knocked down.

I have a Kubota 54" deck that is PTO driven. I am trying to figure out how to get a sprocket onto the spline ? it's a 10 spline.

I have a 15hp engine and that I plan to mount on top with a clutch sprocket. My sprockets will be 1.5 inch on the Engine and around 8 inch on the deck ( 3600 RPM to 540 RPM)

It would be nice if I didn't have to weld anything. I have seem the hydraulic adapters and was wondering what else was out there ?

Much Thanks !

I'd suggest adding either a centrifugal clutch and/or using pulleys instead of sprockets. A direct connect to the heavy blade/gearbox is going to make the engine hard to start (even with an electric starter). Using belt (maybe 2) and pulleys would provide some slippage/ give if you run into an immovable object (e.g. tree root, heavy rock, broken limb, etc....).

There are Youtube projects showing hydraulic motor projects (with bypass valve so that blade can spin down)...

Sounds like a good project -- good luck.
