Good evening. I have a 20 year old Bushhog RDTH72 Finish Mower and am working to rebuild the spindles. I've never done this before and I watched several YouTube videos but none were really like my spindles I have. I have several questions.

1. After I remove the snap rings on the spindles how is the best way to remove the shafts. I beat and banged on mine and got it out, but the lower bearing is still attached to the shafts. How do I get that off the shaft?
2. When removing the shaft I damaged the pulley nut threads. My fault for cavemanning it. How is best way to protect those threads?
3.I was able to knock out the upper bearing with bearing driver.

I apologize in advance for what many will think as simple, but I'm learning here. My normal teacher, my Dad, is no longer able to help me unfortunately. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to TBN!

Put a sleeve over the threads that seats on the shoulder just below the threads. Another way is to thread the nut back onto the shaft, upsidedown if a castle nut, until flush with the end of the spindle. You can still damage the threads this way if you beat on it enough.

A little heat on the shaft by the bearing may loosen it up to be able to drive the shaft off of it.

My dad was a good teacher too, but alas, he is no longer with us either.

A gear or pully puller will get that off.
