I was postin' awhile back on another thread, whining about buttonbush growing around my ponds and lake. Well, for one month out of the year, it has these beautiful blooms (from which it gets its name) and the fragrance is wonderful. This morning I was on a wildflower picture "expedition" when I noticed this buttonbush in full bloom beside my pond. Butterflys were all over it. The one on the attachment inset is called a Question Mark (no kidding, that's its name). Anyhow, I figure I've done my good deed to buttonbush by posting its picture./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Now I can go back to cutting the "pest" down!/w3tcompact/icons/mad.gif

Are those anything like burrs? Kinda reminds me of the sticky little things.

Not burrs at all...they are just little starburst flowers. Problem is, at any one time, about 1/2 to 2/3 of the bush is dead and every year it spreads out at the base. New plants also grow and left unchecked, it will absolutely surround a pond of water. It's a lot easier cutting down when it's small than when it gets big.(duh...I guess that's obvious)./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I've never seen anything like 'em here then. Unless it was in someone's garden. Our wild stuff tends to be more mild, dandelion, paint brush, black eyed susan, and some kinda stalky little white flower that the old timers tell me will ruin a hayfield real quick. But the bees sure seem to like it.

...as opposed to armadillo eggs that you normally find smashed in the middle of the road./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Them little one's you have in Arkansas are what we call "eggs" here in Texas. When they get full grown, we paint 'em GREEN and put 'em all lined up in front of a John Deere dealership./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Keep the pictures coming. Muhammad will let us know when his server is full.

I remember driving from Little Rock AK to San D CA. Dad cussed them bowl'n balls all the way. Front end alinements must be often in your part of the woods. All that in a 56 Ford Vicky. Now today in the smaller cars, well it would be like down right dangerous if not deadly. Is green the only solution to the problem? We got possums that were imported and breed like rabbits but are softer on the vehicles.
